MARKHAM – As you might already know, here at Living Realty we take Chinese New Year very seriously – not only because many of our team members are proud of their Chinese roots, but also because it’s a great time of year to celebrate, reflect, and dream big for the 12 months ahead.

We’re excited that the time has come again! With the Year of the Snake having drawn to a close, February 2014 marks the start of the Year of the Horse. In the tradition of Chinese astrology, the Year of the Horse is often regarded as a fortunate year, offering opportunities for romance, adventure and excitement.

Characteristics of the Horse

Those born in the Year of the Horse (1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, or 2014) are said to reflect this special animal’s spontaneity, charm, intuition, and carefree nature. While they tend to be quick learners, Horses often have a habit of leaving projects (and housework!) half-finished. Renowned for passion and leadership, Horses are strong communicators and love company.  They are primarily concerned with avoiding failure and pleasing as many people as possible – one of the best ways to befriend a Horse is to provide them with positive feedback on a job well done.

People born in 2014 (or 1954) are said to be born in the year of the Wood Horse. Wood Horses tend to be more thoughtful and contemplative than those born in other Horse years. Another advantage of Wood Horses is their capacity for long-term planning and ethical approaches, both in business and romance – making them highly sought-after partners.

One famous Canadian example of a Wood Horse is Oscar-winning director James Cameron, who was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario and has gone on to be the driving force behind numerous blockbuster Hollywood films such as Titanic, Terminator and Avatar.
