Living Realty today announced the launch of a Sports Equipment Drive in support of Diabetes Canada – the latest in a long list of charity events held by the GTA-based real estate brokerage.

The sports equipment drive aims to collect new or gently-used personal sports equipment. To encourage donations from staff, customers and other visitors, donation bins have been placed in prominent positions in Living Realty’s offices located in Markham, Toronto and Mississauga.

Anyone wishing to donate personal sports items to the drive can do so by calling in at any Living Realty office. Items that can be donated to the drive include:

  • Clean sports clothing
  • Protective equipment (e.g. hockey pads, baseball helmets)
  • Clean footwear (e.g. skates, cleats)
  • Baseball bats, hockey sticks, tennis rackets, golf clubs etc
  • Winter sports equipment such as skis, snowshoes, and snowboards

Living Realty kindly requests that people do not donate non-personal and/or large items such as nets, trampolines, and bicycles.

When the sports equipment drive ends, all the equipment collected by Living Realty will be donated to Diabetes Canada,. The charity will then be able to raise money from the donations thanks to their link-up with Value Village. As Diabetes Canada explains on its website: “Since 1985, our reusable goods donation program has enjoyed an exclusive partnership with Value Village where all donations generate funding to support Diabetes Canada.”

In addition to raising money for a worthy charity, the drive has the added benefit of making sports equipment available for families to acquire at a reduced cost. This in turn will allow families to participate in sports that might otherwise have been out of reach to them.

The launch of this sports equipment drives follows on from several successful charity drives held by Living Realty in recent years. Broker of Record Kelvin Wong, explained the reasons for the new company tradition: “In the past few years, we have moved towards giving back to the community which we have served for 40 years.  This has included several charity drives such as our holiday toy and coat drives in 2017 and 2018 respectively, and our third annual Thanksgiving Food Drive this year during which we collected close to 1500 pounds of food for the benefit of the Daily Bread Food Bank. Seeing the impact that these drives have had has inspired us to make it a company tradition.”

“In previous years we have collected toys and winter coats for our festive drives. This year we decided to focus on sports equipment because, as a family-run company, we are well aware of the expense involved for families when participating in sports and we want to help make sure that these activities are open to everyone”
