Here in Mississauga, there’s never a shortage of Halloween spirit in October, with many of the city’s areas hosting spooky events for the whole family to enjoy.
In addition to many of the city’s Halloween celebrations being free of charge, there are usually a few that take place in the weeks prior to the actual holiday – giving your kids a chance to try out their costumes, and practice Halloween safety, in advance of the big night.
To help you plan out your Halloween event calendar, here are a few of the most exciting local events planned for October:
Friday Oct. 15: “Haunted Mississauga” Heritage Tour

Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Mississauga’s popular annual walk changes locations annually. The walking tour lasts for about 50 minutes, and features costumed actors, hot refreshments, and plenty of exciting stories (with a historic focus).

Sept. 24 – Oct. 31: Pumpkinfest at Downie’s Market Farm

Families looking for an authentic pumpkin farm experience, without having to drive too far out of town, can make the short trip to beautiful Caledon for an authentic, pumpkin-themed harvest experience. Activities include a corn maze, wagon rides, puppet shows, duck races, and even a haunted “Boo Barn.”

October 29: Halloween “Monster Mash” at Celebration Square
12:00 PM – 3:00 PM | 300 City Centre Drive, Mississauga
On the Saturday of Halloween weekend, Mississauga residents of all ages are invited to head to “Celebration Scare” with their roller-skates for an afternoon jam at the rink. Enjoy the sounds of DJ FLOz and a wide range of activities, including a “spooktacular” maze, balloon shows, face painting, and more.
