Markham, ON – Living Realty this week announced the launch of a fall fundraiser, with the ambitious aim of raising $10,000 for the benefit of the Daily Bread Food Bank.
In recent years, the real estate brokerage has established an annual tradition of holding a food drive in the run up to Thanksgiving. This began in 2017 when the company collected 1700lbs of food and also donated $2000 to the Daily Bread food bank. That initial success was followed up with food drives in 2018 and 2019, which proved to be hugely beneficial to those in need in the local community.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic and its effects mean that a traditional food drive is not practical as Living realty would normally have donation boxes placed at each branch and be encouraging people to visit. However, the struggles that people have faced this year a a result of the pandemic have emphasized the importance of charity work like this, so Living Realty began to look at alternative ways to run this year’s charity drive. As such, this year’s charity efforts have been moved online and Living Realty is holding a fundraiser on behalf of the Daily Bread food bank.
An online donations page has been set up through Daily Bread and donations can be made at any time. Living Realty is aiming to collect $5,000 in donations and has pledged to match every dollar $1 with an additional $1, up to a maximum of $5,000 – making a grand total of $10,000 the ultimate aim.
Broker of Record Kelvin Wong spoke about the fundraising initiative and the importance it holds at this particular time: “We always like to give back to the community around us at Thanksgiving time as we know the difference it can make. This year that is truer than ever as many people in our community have suffered financial hardship as a result of Covid-19 lockdowns and struggle to put food on the table as a result. That is why we have set a high target for our fundraiser as we feel that those of us who can help should do our part to help our neighbours in need.”
Mr. Wong added, “We have always been thrilled by the generosity of staff, friends and visitors whenever we have held a charity drive and we encourage everyone to be as generous as possible this year.”
Anyone wishing to make a donation to Living Realty’s fundraiser can do so by visiting the donations page on the Daily Bread website.
