Neighbourhood Profile: City Centre Mississauga

Share this post:

Mississauga City Centre is an area filled with so much to explore: new restaurants, activities, entertainment, and the chance to find your perfect home.

As a popular location next door to Toronto, Mississauga has perhaps grown and developed more than any other city in the GTA in the last few decades as buyers looked for good locations to commute from. The city centre neighbourhood is a great example of this as it looks quite different than it did 10 years ago, and now offers something for everyone – from Celebration Square for celebrations and events to Square One for all the shopping you could ever want.

Read on to find out about all the best spots, schools and homes in City Centre Mississauga.

Recreation and Entertainment

One of the most popular spots in this neighbourhood has to be Square One shopping centre. This mall contains over 350 stores and services that range from luxury stores to shopping on a budget. Some of the most popular stores include Apple, Zara, Kate Spade, Lululemon and so many others. There is enough to see and do within the shopping centre itself that you can easily spend a whole day or two there and still feel you haven’t seen everything. If you need a break from shopping, just down the street from Square One you’ll find a Cneplex theatre where you can watch all the latest films too.

Celebration Square is another popular spot just a short walking distance from Square One. Located at 300 City Centre Drive, you will find a large variety of activities and events happening here all the time. A few of the events that have been hosted here in the past include movie nights, live music, and farmers markets, as well as major celebrations like Canada Day events. If you are looking for something new to do each weekend I would definitely recommend visiting Celebration Square to see what this community has to offer.

Restaurants in Mississauga City Centre

If you’re looking for a great place to eat, Mississauga City Centre has got you covered. You’ll find a variety of restaurants from multiple cultures to help cure your cravings. A few of the most popular spots include La Carnita, Sansotei Ramen, and Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar. La Carnita is a Mexican restaurant that has great reviews and serves food that is filled with flavor. If you’re looking for a comforting meal that will warm you up, Sansotei Ramen will have something for you. If you love pasta like I do, I recommend Scaddabush Italian Kitchen & Bar for their great food and delicious drinks.

Schools and Education

There are two high schools located in the Mississauga City Centre neighbourhood. The first is Father Michael Goetz which is a catholic high school on Central Parkway West and has been open since 1990. Father Michael Goetz is home to over 1,300 students, has scored above average in their academic results, and has some great athletic teams. The second high school is TL Kennedy, which is a public high school founded in 1953. This school is home to about 1,000 students and is enriched with academics and extracurricular programs.

Mississauga City Centre is also home to quite a few elementary schools for your young ones. A few schools that have been known for their great education and extracurricular opportunities include Briarwood public school, Chris Hadfield public school, and Corpus Christi Separate School.

Homes in Mississauga City Centre

There has been a near-consistent growth in the developments in Mississauga City Centre. The City Centre skyline is constantly changing as we see these new condo projects being built. One development that is adding to the city centre skyline is Canopy Towers, located on Hurontario Street. The first tower of this development launched in 2020 and was a huge success. With almost 500 units with beautiful finishes and amenities, Tower A was a new home buyer’s dream.

Recently, Liberty Development announced Phase 2 of the Canopy Towers development. This phase will include two more towers connected by a six storey podium. The towers will stand at 21 and 38 storeys high, and include all the same luxurious finishes and amenities as the first tower. Some of these amenities include a sports lounge, party room, exercise room, yoga studio, and pet washing station. These towers are in the perfect location as they are just a few steps away from the Hurontario LRT. This will make it just a short transit ride away from all the wonderful restaurants and entertainment that Mississauga City Centre has to offer.

With the skyline constantly changing, you can expect more developments to come soon. If you would like to keep on top of all the latest new condo developments in Mississauga, check out the Living New Homes website and get the latest updates on new home developments.
